I am trying to understand what advantages one gets from buying a phone with
no commitment. There is the freedom that you are not tied to a carrier or to
a particular phone. But if you intend to use the phone for 2 years, you'll
have to be with a carrier regardless, and pay the monthly cost. So why pay
more upfront?

Prepaid rate tends to be less expensive then postpaid rate. The total

我不觉得有多大差别啊
就个人例子而言
iphone的plan 每个月要70多不到80块，这个是2yr
TMO家的monthly 4G每月要60多。（不选50的那个是因为只有200M的4G speed）
算下来，每个月的话费都差不多

这个plan很适合电话少而喜欢折腾我等众WSN。
要是把这个无限短信去掉，再便宜一点是最好不过了。

分钟不够,再不给短信,那就真没法用了.毕竟Tmo的4g覆盖太差,voip很多时候用不了.

短信早就google voice了。还真用那个号码？当然不能告诉别人这个号码了，那样的
话，100分钟一下就没了。

Actually for most of people they don't need unlimited, some cases only use
data and voice rarely. Their total cost for the wireless voice and data is
only around $200-$300 or even less. Then it does make a lot of sense to go
with prepaid.

很多人都可以搞family plan还有discount，一个月也就$50左右（含税），还不用老算
计着用了多少。买个合同手机运营商补贴了$400-550。prepaid辛辛苦苦省来省去也不见
得多划算。

我没多少电话打，给国内打都是用skype，平时在家和学校都有wifi，根本不需要data
plan。
所以我一直用at&t的prepaid，一个月20刀的话费用不了。要是签个协议机加family
plan一月至少四五十刀，一点不合算。身边许多人签了协议机，data也是白白浪费掉了
，很少用到，出差旅游一年也没几次。

不是不理解，只能说明你不在乎钱。
我先不理解，但那个时候，还没smart phone，家里也没电话，还指望着用周末，晚上
的free minutes。
但现在情况已经完全不同了。plan两条线一个月用掉的钱，几乎相当于一条线一年的
prepaid的钱，这还是第一年，第二年还有可能更低。

一个月$50左右 is not unlimited everything plan. You also have to be careful
how much data you have been used.
It's true that most of people use prepaid are single or a couple, don't need
4-5 lines for the plan.

如果能用充值的卡折扣，一般是28.50，是一个月还是30天，倒没太注意。

俺以前是 family 计划两根线，每月 50+ after 20% company discout, lot of
rollover minutes.

sprint已经是几乎是unlimited everything了，除了通话，但是这个几乎不可能用完。
AT&T差不多类似的plan，3G data，要差不多$60。3g data已经可以做到除了看视频外其
他随便放心用了。
AT&T虽然贵，但是data速度，覆盖要比sprint好很多，手机选择多，换手机容易，二手
市场手机resale价格高。反正就是愿意多花钱，就享受更好更便利的服务。

一般说自己根本不需要data plan的人，就说明
1. 要么没车，不用看路况，有车也是很正常的平时就那几个点，没traffic，路不复杂；
2. 很少在外面逛，不用yelp找餐馆；
3. 在车上听radio音乐，随便听，不想着查到底是什么歌。
4. 聊天不是太多，不用长期在线stand by。
再说了，没data plan，prepaid干嘛ATT啊，好像是最贵的啊。

prepaid可以到callingmart.com买充值卡，不但没税还有5%-10%的coupon，前几天刚充
了100刀，有效期一年，10%的coupon，90刀搞定。你说的regulation fee是什么？我用
的10cents/min plan，没有其他fee。对了，一月扣0.96刀的911服务费。

这边村里只有at&t和Verizon，后者话费更贵，但是据说服务比前者好。

我们这边偏僻得要死，只有at&t和verzion，后者比at&t贵。路况？俺们这边从来不用
看路况，根本没有堵车这么一说。哎，还是城里人活得潇洒啊，我们这边都没地方逛。

H2O是用的AT&T的网络，刚查了下coverage，我们这边覆盖到了。
具体怎么转？用换号吗？我刚充了100刀，估计能用5个月，用完了考虑转。

很明显，我199 sign一个iphone5 2年，卖掉6，7百，然后全价买个920花449用这个
plan，这一来一回三百块进口袋，半年手机费出来了
本身我就不喜欢ip5，想入920，你说何乐而不为阿

电话不多TM的$30刀计划就搞定了，100 min + 5G。这价格还是税后。
电话多好像有第三方给的一个$45 unlimited everything。
两年下来当然便宜多了。

因人而异。
有些人很多时候不需要unlimited data，甚至att200/300 MB的data都用不完，电话反
而不少，比如每个星期跟国内父母聊天，还有同事间联系，family plan也是不错的选
择。电话随便打，不用折腾voip，一个月也就50，而且还能拿签约价的电话，比
prepaid省心不说，钱也没多出。

其实不需要data plan的人是因为:
1. 对周边很熟悉, 平时不需要怎么查地址, 开长途用车载GPS
2. 对周边很熟悉, 不需要怎么查餐馆
3. 车上听音乐, 不过听自己的CD/mp3, 或者直接收听FM radio
4. 电脑上聊天, 或者wifi到处有, 随便wifi也可以stand by

其实都是plan惹的祸, postplan选择比较少, 都是属于量比较大的, 不是所有人都需要
那么多分钟数和那么多data
prepaid就适合用的少的人, 随便怎么算都比签约划算
另外, 即便用everything unlimited, prepaid可以40,45就搞定, 怎么也不会比post
plan贵

你算得是整个签plan的净收入（不包括免费的Lumia手机）。
iphone5换Lumia是200-300的收入。
我感觉如果两年都用手机的话，T-mobile的value plan最好了，corp discount, 税后
unlimited talk & text + 2G data $30/month
unlimited talk & text + 200M data $25/month
unlimited talk & text $20/month
200 Whenever mins + unlimited text $16/month (unlimited night and weekend)
就是人得多点，另外得看你的地域T-mobile信号怎么样。

不同意，我车上常年放个160G的iPod，上万首歌连iDrive随便选，用手机stream也太累了
车上的导航也是实时更新路况啊，用手机那么小个屏幕导航还不累死，进隧道之后更是
只有车载可以继续用

你路上是要开多久的车啊？每首歌五分钟。半小时车程也就听6-7首。 streaming的好
处是经常可以听到新歌，有时候歌太多不好，听不过来，有时候不知道选什么

有 employee discount
不需要真正的 unlimited minutes ，晚上和周末都免费了。有些打所有手机都免费。
数据不需要5gb这么多吧。

voice is only less than 2000 minutes, which only cost $80-$200(page plus 4
cents/minute, H2O 5 cents/min, T-Mobile 10 cents/minute).
In terms of data, many also don't need data all the time(every day). Prepaid
program has the option of pay by usage.
I guess many people here working in the office. You have phone in the office
, and home. Mostly also wifi available in the office, and at home.
I just don't understand why you use mobile phone to make call when you are
in the office or at home. Someone may argue I talk a lot when driving. Then,
that's not good habit.

说句实话我很讨厌用手机打电话，声音总没固话那么纯正饱满，
虽然nokia的音质号称挺好。
像我这种一年1000分钟手机都用不完的情况，两年合约下来要多耗$1000，
玩点别的什么不好。
再说，现在成天都成了计算机的奴隶(这个是工作没办法)，干嘛还要成为
手机的奴隶。
