这从另一方面也可能说明另外一个道理:牛人扎堆未必强过三五个牛人配有称手的工具 ,螺丝干的活强。。。

Or another possibility - when you get ride of *bottom* X percent, the X% may not be really based on performance :) Which is very true based on my observation in many companies. I do not think this is an effective way to improve quality of team.

GE did that for several years and finally the CEO was fired.

The key is how to you determine the bottom X%. If this process is wrong, then this process will gradually weakens the company instead of strengthening it.

apparently there is no right process so far - because no company "strengthen " themselves continuously... :) At certain point bad thing just has to happen no matter what. This is interesting

其实在这种大公司,走的一般都是二流的吧。 真是牛X的,MSFT给的也不少了。哪个PARNTER SDE不是每年至少HALF MILLION,今年IE TEAM 提了至少6个PARTNER吧,总共也就80多个developers. 三流的也走不了,或者难找到更好的位置了。
