Laptop logged in problem --- "you are logged on with a temperary profile.
You can not access your files, all your temperary profiles will be deleted
when you sign out"

error 0x80070490 for windows update database on windows 8
When I ran troubleshooting it said potential windows update database error
detected 0x8007049. Below that it says windows update components must be
repaired. I have tried refreshing and resetting the system multiple times
yet it does not fix the problem. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I can not update any app.
The desktop returns to the status when I bought the laptop.
The apps I installed are no longer there anymore.

0x80070490 是 "element not found",这个很象你原来的profile里面有file被corrupt
了... 基本无解了. windows能启动, 系统文件应当还好, 八成你安装过的程序也应当
还好.
现在第一要做的是看能救回来多少数据, 你原来的profile应当在c:\users\your_user_
name里, 先找个USB drive把这个目录下能拷出来的数据备份一下. 一般你的desktop/
favorite/bookmark都应当能找回来. 然后把那硬盘上你关心的数据备份出来.
然后删掉这个corrupted profile再重建一个...
强烈建议数据备份出来后做个disk scan, 一旦有corrupted file, 如果不是软件问题,
有很大可能性硬盘很快就会全挂...有可能需要换个硬盘.

我遇到过一模一样的问题。基本上是你的profile corruption. 可以补救，不过从长
计议来说最好重装。随便找了个。写得不错。这个你看看。

我好象是重新create 一个相同user name 的profile 就可以了。

Thank you very much for the link. I followed the link and got out of the "
temporary profile" status and got back my old username. I refreshed the
system (It said I would not lost files).
But I lost all my files in "desktop" and "my document".
I lost all the programs, eg office 2010, java, etc.
Basically, I re-installed win 8.
I did not make backup files in "my document", lost all of them.
(I can not type Chinese now).
A bloody lost!!

重要文件定时备份或者放在dropbox之类云存储里。

win7吧？
碰上过两次了，都是重建一个帐号，原帐号删掉。
现在家里电脑开始慢慢去MS化，操不起那份心了。

你有没有做那instruction里面的step 4?

4) Create new user name in non domain (workgroup environment) from control
panel or computer management. Make sure to add the new user to
administrators group.
Login with new user name and start copying your old data from old profile. I
normally copy below data,
a) My Documents (Music, videos and downloads)
b) Desktop
c) Favorites
d) Any outlook PST files (find more information about location of PST files
here)
But Microsoft suggests to copy entire old user profile (except 3 files) as
shown in this official site link.

wow. that sucks. I think you've made a mistake somewhere, your stuff should
still be somewhere. I think the error is only the "profile" that is
corrupted. It should be kinda like a bunch of links to all your stuff. oh
well.
