Few days ago, we’ve told you about Acer’s forthcoming Iconia A1-810 tablet
. At that time, we didn’t know how much Acer will sell its device for, but
now we (think we) have that information…
According to DigiTimes‘ sources from the upstream supply chain, the
Taiwanese company has decided to make the A1-810 available for just $149,
potentially disrupting the nascent market of 8-inch tablets, currently
dominated by Apple’s iPad Mini. Another contender is also preparing an 8-
inch tablet of its own – Samsung, but as we know it, they’ll ask a premium
($399) for their product.
Again, the Iconia A1-810 will sport MediaTek’s quad-core processor, 7.9-
inch 1024×768 pixels screen, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth
and a memory card slot. The device will start mass production later this
month with shipment volumes to rise each month.
Propelled by the success of its low-end Iconia B1 tablet, Acer hopes to sell
some 7 million Android tablets this year.
