Microsoft began taking pre-orders for the next generation Surface devices,
Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 last month. The devices were expected to be
shipped on Oct 21st on the device launch day. However, if you order the
device now, shipping date has been pushed to Oct 25th in the US. Only the $
899 64GB Surface Pro 2 is now available with the original shipping date of
Oct 21st. And Surface Pro 2 256GB and the 512GB models will be shipped only
by December 15th.
Also Type Cover 2 is now available only in Purple as others are out of stock.
Microsoft also announced last week that it is hosting a series of midnight
launch events at 10 Microsoft retail stores across the nation to celebrate
the launch of Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2. Starting at 10 p.m. local time on
Oct. 21, each participating store will host the Surface Challenge, offering
contestants in each market a chance to go head-to-head in a series of fun,
interactive and sometimes physical games for a chance to be whisked away to
Orlando, Fla., the next morning for the Mall at Millenia store opening,
where Pitbull will perform.
