Hi all,
I feel this is a fraud, although it's only $25. But I feel really upset, coz
I don't know what should I do next?
I'm sharing a 2br apartment with A3 right now. However A3 couple is REALLY
REALLY dirty. They make our kitchen sink like a bathroom bowl. Their left
over food looks like shit in the sink and they never clean it. I plan to
move to a 1br aprtment. Becoz they made me afraid of roommate.
This is my first time to deal with house rental agency. Coz I only have
experience with landlord directly. I found all the 1br apartment is rented
by agency. So I get ripped off for $25. Pls be patient about my story. Thank
you.
I found a nice and reasonable 1 br. The landlord(an old lady) hosts a "small
agency". Why I call it small agency? Because she only rent her own huge
house. She seperate the house into several individual entrance 1br or studio
. And use one of them as an office. The house rent is all her earnings. She
showed me the house and tell me lots of "good points" for this apartment.
Such as quiet, clean, safe, etz. Then I decide to rent it. However she told
me I need to "apply", just like how I apply for the job!! And the $25
application fee is nonrefundable. Then I asked if I pay for it, does that
mean you will consider me first? Then she told me I receive almost 10
applications today. I will consider all of you, and then decide which one I
want. Only when you pay this $25, you will be considered. I never know
application fee and deal with agency before. So I thought all of the agency
is like this, so I paid for that. However, just after 2days, she call me and
told me I'm not selected.
Then I start to rethink about this. If all of the agency rent the apartment
like this, does that mean I have to pay $250 for 10? If I'm not selected by
all of them, does that mean I pay $250 for nothing even though a shit? If
the agency keep telling everybody you are not selected, does that mean they
can easily get $250 for showing your own house 10 times?
I'm afraid of looking for another apartment now. I found some other good one
but also need application fee. I'm not dare to apply. But I couldn't leave
until tomorrow with A3. Who can help me? What should I do next time when I
meet this situation?
I will appreciate for your help
