忘了说了，为什么时间定在十一点半？老李说十二点零八分是附近一家中餐馆Peking
Buffet第一波菜吃光老莫杂工上第二波菜的时候，有一回和老板娘调了半个多小时的情
套出来的话，所以采访只给30分钟，另留八分钟走过去时间刚刚好

2. 西雅图的夏天我挺喜欢的，貌似中国人也挺多；饮食什么的也不错
3. Amazon内部有几个team做的东西跟我研究接近，本人也感兴趣
缺点：
1. 没得选择了，一旦接受反悔实在是影响很大吧，要求在10 31号以前给结果啊，这么
短时间我不大可能找得到其他工作；等于直接放弃了很多潜在的机会。倒不是说一定可
以找到更好的，但是主动放弃，我自己会觉得不太好
2. Amazon据说绿卡政策不好（我也不清楚）
3. 西雅图据说冬天很挫？

唉，你们这可真是“贫限想”啊。老李多少我不知道，认识的一些老师都在讨论每小时
400-600刀的咨询费。
纯聊天容易，但是咨询服务，一般还要提前准备。所以一小时咨询，不止一小时的劳力
。

not a good offer for PHD (assume phd takes 5 years), master gets similar
package. but if you dont have better offer such as google, it is a good
start. congrats!

part of sign-on? Amazon rarely makes regular bonus offers because they are barely profitable, with 1%~3% profit margin, though their business is growing fast.

how to determine your rsu shares? 45k/? i think # of shares matters, and now
amazon is high.

Amazon always offers similar packages for PhD and master. It's nothing new.
For them, PhD has 5~10k more base salary. That's all. Another similar
company is Bloomberg.

建议报offer时候最好给rsu的股数而不是根据当天的总价值，股票的价天天变， 发帖
的时候值45k， 到我现在回帖的时候，amazon今天掉10块， 所以你这个45k就变别的数
了， 很难有参考价值， 其他人也难回答。

For a good fresh PhD, MSFT gives much better offers than this one.
For this Amazon PhD offer, the bonus is 80k over 4 years (35k cash for the
first 2 years and 45k stocks for 4 years.) The total compensation for the
first 4 year is average 120k per year. I believe during these 4 years you
won't get other bonus than sign on cash and stock bonus.
I recently know a MSFT PhD offer (L61): 115k base, 60k sign on stock (5
years). MSFT actually has cash and stock bonus each year. Assume the
performance is just average, it will be 10% cash bonus and 6k stock for L61.
Totally, it leads to 115k+12k+11.5k+6k=144.5k per year. No to mention MSFT
has better benefits.

your friend must be super niu. After the a salary hike, MS doesn't offer
much stock any more. Amazon also can offer yearly stock, depending on
performance.

This is not true.
1. His interview result is just average (I am in his interview loop).

bonus. I tend to think it's the way MSFT to attract top fresh PhD given they
can't really hire as too high level.
Google usually offers 160 shares to fresh PhD which is around $85k and not
to mention Facebook. Therefore, 60k sign on isn't surprsingly good if MSFT
wants to compete with Google/Facebook.
MSFT isn't the best pay company. However, after the salary adjustment, it's
actually not bad comparing to other companies. It's still not as good as
Google for junior level but definitely competible to Amazon. If you believe
you are a high performer, you dwill be surprised how much you get paid by
MSFT.

Amazon always offers similar packages for PhD and master. It's nothing new.
For them, PhD has 5~10k more base salary. That's all. Another similar
company is Bloomberg.

的时候值45k， 到我现在回帖的时候，amazon今天掉10块， 所以你这个45k就变别的数
了， 很难有参考价值， 其他人也难回答。

实际上这个股数是要按开始工作前30天内的某个平均值算出来的，新手，我也不清楚
多谢指点。。。

For a good fresh PhD, MSFT gives much better offers than this one.
For this Amazon PhD offer, the bonus is 80k over 4 years (35k cash for the
first 2 years and 45k stocks for 4 years.) The total compensation for the
first 4 year is average 120k per year. I believe during these 4 years you
won't get other bonus than sign on cash and stock bonus.
I recently know a MSFT PhD offer (L61): 115k base, 60k sign on stock (5
years). MSFT actually has cash and stock bonus each year. Assume the
performance is just average, it will be 10% cash bonus and 6k stock for L61.
Totally, it leads to 115k+12k+11.5k+6k=144.5k per year. No to mention MSFT
has better benefits.

your friend must be super niu. After the a salary hike, MS doesn't offer
much stock any more. Amazon also can offer yearly stock, depending on
performance.

This is not true.
1. His interview result is just average (I am in his interview loop).
2. All the numbers I mentioned are after the salary hike. Therefore, those
numbers are true now.
3. I personally have an Amazon offer before and lots of my friends in Amazon
as well. We all confirm that performance stock won't apply to people who
are still having on-hire stock (for the first 4 years).
You can argue that 150k total compensatioon for a fresh PhD isn't attractive
comparing to Google/Facebook or others. Some companies treat fresh PhD much
better without question. However, it's true that a good fresh PhD (not an
excellect one) can have 150k total compensation in MSFT easily.

offer here which is not as good as what you described.
MS has 9w people and 210B market cap, it is very generous to give fresh
PhD 60k sign-on stock. It doesn't have as much to leverage as, for example,
Google, that has only 3w people with 170B market cap.
Amazon, on the other hand, has very high P/E ratio. Its stock value is not very reliable. With P/E ratio of 100 for a company that existed for 17 years, one has to be fully prepared if it doesn't grow as fast as investors expect and the stock take a plunge.

Actually, $60k sign-on stock is quit normal for top fresh PhD for MSFT. I
come from a top-4 CS PhD. All friends I know have at least $50k sign-on
bonus. I tend to think it's the way MSFT to attract top fresh PhD given they
can't really hire as too high level.
Google usually offers 160 shares to fresh PhD which is around $85k and not
to mention Facebook. Therefore, 60k sign on isn't surprsingly good if MSFT
wants to compete with Google/Facebook.
MSFT isn't the best pay company. However, after the salary adjustment, it's
actually not bad comparing to other companies. It's still not as good as
Google for junior level but definitely competible to Amazon. If you believe
you are a high performer, you dwill be surprised how much you get paid by
MSFT.
