Job Description
Amazon's Global Retail Catalog Tools team is responsible for developing inno
vative and user-friendly applications to help retail business owners to mana
ge the worldwide retail catalog. Our large scale web applications running o
n distributed systems have direct and critical business impact. We are look
ing for an experienced, talented and hard-working Technical Program Manager
who is passionate about delivering great customer experience, works directly
with our businesses to improve and expand our retail selection, is able to
dive deep into complex problems and works well in a team environment.
A successful candidate will need to have excellent problem solving and proje
ct management skills, great communication skills, strong ownership and the m
otivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. As a TPM, you wil
l anticipate bottlenecks, identify and mitigate project risks, provide escal
ation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance business needs
versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects an
d break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications,
then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. You need t
o:
1) manage communication with business owners and partner technical team
s,
2) work with engineers and leaders to set technical direction,
3) oversee high-level process and software design,
4) coordinate projects and resources,
5) report on project progress and status,
6) assist in preparing and reporting the annual roadmap and periodicall
y amending the roadmap projects to meet changing business needs.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical fiel
d; or MBA degree
3+ years of experience in project, program, and/or product management.
1+ years of coding experience in Java, C++, and Perl

g skills. This will include the ability to present complex technical inform
ation in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including non
-technical.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have several of the following:
Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-m
otivate and follow-through on projects.
Significant experience as a mentor within a technical organization.
Experience with Agile Management (SCRUM, RUP, XP) is preferred, Scrum Master
is a plus.
Experience in or knowledge of PMBOK is a plus.
