The successful candidate will participate in all software development
activities such as research, design, develop and maintain of a web-based
grant management application for the National Institutes of Health. This
candidate will be responsible for performing complex development tasks
involving a large Oracle database and supporting dependent applications and
maintenance efforts. Must be very detailed oriented with strong development
and unit testing skills, and work to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and
integrity of data in multiple database environments. The candidate must have
experience with Java, J2EE, Eclipse, XML and Rational ClearCase.
Applicants will qualify for Software Developer position with a Bachelor’s
Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent based on evaluation of academic
credentials, training and/or experience) as well as related experience to
include web development using Java, JEE, Spring/ Spring JDBC, XML, PL/SQL,
Apache Tomcat, Oracle, and Rational Clear Case as well as Unit Testing.
Suitable combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.
Experience may have been gained before, during or after degree.
The candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment and must be
very proactive in analyzing and solving production issues. This person will
provide guidance to less experienced developer personnel, and will interact
frequently with customers, subordinates and functional peer groups at
various management levels. The candidate must be a good communicator with an
ability to communicate technical results to the team.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in a related technical field
and 5+ years related technical experience (or equivalent based on evaluation
of academic credentials, training and/or experience) or a Master's Degree
in a related technical field and 3+ years of related experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS:

Must be an advanced developer with Java/JEE, Spring/ Spring JDBC, Apache
Struts, JSP, ClearCase, UML tools.
·
Experienced with NIH grants management enterprise systems.
·
Must be experienced with designing databases and developing entity-
relationship diagrams.
·
Must have production support experience.
·
Must be an experienced client-side tool developer, familiar with database
access and automated testing techniques
·
Must be an effective verbal and written communicator, able to work with both
technical and business users
·
Must have a commitment to delivering high-quality software and data
·
Must demonstrate a sense of urgency, and the ability to work independently
and proactively in achieving team and individual objectives
·
Must be able to understand the business uses of data and develop designs and
specifications to meet those requirements
·
Must be comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
·
Must have strong attention to detail
