There is one black cat who wanders around our fences often. We have 2 cats
that we let out in the yard on leash. They can see each other but my cats
are leashed, not allowed to climb the fence and the cat always stay a
distance on the fence.
We also keep chickens in a fenced side yard. The evening before yesterday,
LD went to check up on chicken feed after dark and there she/he was standing
inside the yard, chicken area, not running away. LD went back to some food
for her/him and walked away and the cat ate all the food.
Yesterday just after dark, LD said the cat is waiting at the same place so
we fed him/her again.
The cat will eat if we keep a distance and if we approach, will run hide
behind a tree/bush and come back eat again when we walk away.
Is it likely a stray or feral?
The right thing to do is to trap him/her and bring to vet. for check up and
neuter/spay?
