After deliberating for about an hour, a Superior Court jury found Daniel Francois, 23, guilty of first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first- degree robbery. He faces up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 9 by Judge Lawrence Hauser. "It was a conscientious jury that arrived at the appropriate verdict," said Senior Assistant State's Attorney Cornelius Kelly, who prosecuted the case with Inspector Richard Lindberg. Francois had been accused of robbing the Chinese doctoral student from New Haven on Nov. 23, 2010 in the area of Park and Jane streets on the city's East Side. According to testimony at trial, Francois and another unidentified man had lured the student to the area from an advertisement in Craigslist selling iPhones. When the victim drove up to the intersection, police say he was greeted by the two men holding a box. The victim said the men got into his car and directed him to drive a short distance. But once at this location, they pulled out guns and demanded the student's money, police said. They fled with $2,800. After they left, however, the victim noticed that one of the robbers had left behind his phone. When he checked the phone it opened to Francois' Facebook page, which included a photo of the defendant. When he got to the police department, the victim showed the Facebook page to police. Kelly said prior to the robbery, Francois had been accused of stealing i- Phones from the Apple Store at the Danbury Fair Mall. He later pleaded guilty in that case. http://www.ctpost.com/news/article/Facebook-page-on-iPhone-doom
