Windows Live Photo Gallery
Import Photos的时候,一换夏令时,以前import进来的就不认得了,搞得500多张照片
被duplicated,现在还得把他们一一找出来,删掉。恶!!!
I've also had this problem. The underlying problem is how Windows Live
Photo Gallery uses timezones. Repro scenario for the WLPG product team:
Step 1: Take 500 pictures on a camera
Step 2: Insert SD card into your laptop
Step 3: Import all 500 pictures (works perfectly)
Step 4: Take 1 new pictures
Step 5: Insert SD card into your laptop
Step 6: Import 1 new pictures (works perfectly)
Step 7: Take 1 new picture
Step 8a: Change timezone of your computer from Pacific to Central... (or
change your time due to daylight saving like what happened last night!).
Step 8b: Insert SD card into your laptop
Step 9: WLPG recommends to import 502 pictures (very annoying!!!)
Step 10: Begrudingly import all 502 pictures
Step 11: Delete all 500 duplicates
Step 12: Repeat this cycle next time I travel... or when daylight savings
kicks in again in the spring.
This is clearly a bug in the duplicate detection logic in Windows Live Photo
Gallery due to not handling timezone changes properly. Google's Picasa
does actual duplicate detection where it does image recognition and matching
. I wish WLPG would do this.
