READING THE MARKET
It seems as the market wants to keep on marching higher as the Nasdaq
surpass the 2011 high with three accumulation day in one week with strong
job data on Friday. Leading stocks are acting well, and plenty of them break
out in heavy volume, the most in many years. There’s a tremendous amount
of strength in the market as volume pick the day before the Nasdaq break out
. In this market environment, all negative news has been ignored, like
Greece default problem, and institution step in when the market pullback. In
this environment, it’s not advised to chase extended stock; one should
wait for pullback to buying range to step in like 10-day or 50-day line.
SPECIAL NOTE – During earnings season many traders will hold only a small
portion of their positions into an announcement (if they are acting well),
or none at all, to reduce the great volatility risk associated with those
announcements.
LEADER LIST (LONG SIDE)
The leader list continues to hold names shaping bases that should/could be
watched and/or traded. In fact, the list is nearly identical to the prior
week. Remember, in choppy markets many can change categories quickly as they
approach or trade around certain key areas.
Base Builders/Pullbacks
Stocks that are either building constructive bases or have pulled back in
their price action to a key area (the 21-day or 50-day line), usually in
tepid volume
1) STMP – found support at 10-day line in heavy volume, about to break out
from cup shape base p/v action
2) BIDU – up through 200-day line, still need more time to complete the
base
3) NFLX – surge through 50-day line in decent volume and found support at
10-day line
4) TIBX – stock bounce from multi week tight, bounce from 10, 50 and 200-
day line pocket pivot
5) AMZN – resistance and support under 50-day line – need more time to
complete the base
9) SLXP – back through 10-day line wait for volume to come for pocket pivot
10) MCD – support at the 50-day line and above 10-day line
11) FTI – hit resistance at 50 and turns lower in heavy volume
12) SODA – bottom fishing pocket pivot 1/3 and 1/4 still in force, hover at
10 day line
13) LNKD – found support at 10-day line in strong p/v action, pocket pivot
14) BIIB – the stock about to break new high watch volume closely- decent p
/v action (pocket pivot)
15) PCLN – up through 50-day line and then 200- line and above the 10-day
line
16) FTNT – good earning with buyable gap-up heavy volume, pocket pivot
17) AH – heavy volume pullback, holding at 10-day line
18) CDE– support at 10-day line, need more upside volume
19) QCOR– under the 50-day line, however found support at 10-day line 4
week tight base
21) INFA– gap up through 50-day line, more work needed be done
22) CF– wants to breakout , wedging upward
Recent Breakouts/Bounces Off Support
Stocks that recently broke out of bases, boxes, or consolidations or have
bounced off prior support areas and are continuing higher in price
1) NUAN– above 10-day line weak p/v action
2) CLR – bounce from 10-day line in heavy volume 1/25 then pullback to 10-
day line
3) INVN – broke out from IPO base 11.95, choppy p/v action, keep moving
higher
4) ALXN– bounce from 10-day line , new high then pull back
5) VPHM – broke out and pullback 10-day line and with subtle pocket pivot
6) MNST- hit new high with buyable gap up- pocket pivot after earning,
Livermore century mark $100,too extended
7) VRSK -holding at 10-day line again
8) SLXP – holding 10-day line looking for support, look for volume to the
upside
9) CMG – keep surging higher with low volume, late stage base
10) URI – new high from short consolidation
11) FFIV – support at 10-day line, wants to go higher
12) TSCO – broke out in monster with buyable gap-up, forming four week
tight
13) RAX– broke out from a long cup with handle base buy point 45.56
