http://www.dpreview.com/articles/8930601010/samsung-nx1-discont Update: While still awaiting an official response, a reader pointed out that the above quote is essentially identical to an official statement from Samsung gave to PC Advisor last year regarding laptops: 'We quickly adapt to market needs and demands. In Europe, we will be discontinuing sales of laptops including Chromebooks for now. This is specific to the region - and is not necessarily reflective of conditions in other markets,' said a Samsung spokesperson. Original story: A story on video blog EOSHD claims that Samsung has discontinued its NX1 mirrorless camera across Europe. An email which an EOSHD forum user claims to be from a Samsung representative states: 'We quickly adapt to market needs and demands. In Europe, we will be discontinuing sales of NX1 cameras for now since there is already much better and upgraded cameras. This is specific to the region – and is not necessarily reflective of conditions in other markets. We will continue to thoroughly evaluate market conditions and will make further adjustments to maintain our competitiveness in emerging Camera categories.' Normally we'd dismiss such a story immediately, but occasional DPReview contributor Andrew Reid is a known name in the photo industry. That said, we 're skeptical about this story, with the rather awkward e-mail above being a big reason why. It seems odd that a company representative would state that their own products are both outgunned and out-of-date. So, at this point we're taking a guarded approach to this rumor. Only an official statement from Samsung will confirm or deny this rumor, and we've reached out to the company for just that. Stay tuned.
