We are searching for a Senior SQL Database Developer who desires a position
in a software company in the exciting Energy and Environmental Markets
industries. APX provides SaaS-based applications utilizing Microsoft
technology that serve high-profile energy companies. APX is currently
expanding its platform and services into additional markets and expanding
capabilities across its portfolio of offerings.
The individual will work within our core engineering team to design,
develop and maintain our Energy and Environmental Markets solutions. The
position will be primarily responsible for developing and maintaining
database-related aspects of applications based upon SQL Server 2008 R2 and
2014, as well as Azure SQL Database. Responsibilities include database
design and development including ETL development, optimization and
performance analysis, troubleshooting of issues related to existing database
logic, as well as creation of technical documentation.
The candidate must have at least 5 years of recent hands-on SQL Server
experience. The candidate will work closely within the team to contribute to
the implementation of new application features, as well as the enhancement
of existing capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience in database development using Microsoft SQL
Server and T-SQL – including Tables, Indexes, Triggers, Queries, Stored
Procedures and Functions
Hands-on experience with SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012 or 2014
Data modeling experience with both relational and dimensional data
models
Experience building ETLs with SSIS or WhereScape RED
Query optimization and performance tuning experience, including
execution plan analysis
Experience with Microsoft Development Tooling, including Visual
Studio and TFS
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following skills:
Experience with Red Gate Toolset
Experience with PowerShell scripting of database-related tasks
Experience tSQLt database unit testing framework
Experience with Microsoft Azure technologies, including Azure SQL
Database
Experience in the Power Markets/Energy & Utilities Industry
Familiarity with a multi-stage development environment, and agile
development (scrum)
