I'm glad you are awake J2ME kinda stuff is not up to 3D stuff which is the key to modern gaming experience. This is why MSFT now enables diretX for both desktop and mobile environment. With DX in place it's natural to promote C++ to the gaming developers: one platform core to cover both desktop and mobile world. Also it's trying to make it easy for existing iOS developers to learn Windows Phone 8 development as iOS guys are basically C++ developers.

I was merely stating native code having advantages over managed code when it comes to games. No need to bark at me. Go talk to those iOS game developers and ask why they make more money on iOS than Android.

Of course native code can have some performance gain over managed code, when it's written properly, no one is denying that. Then again the gain becomes less important with better hardware. At the end of the day, there are many popular 3D games for Android, not so much for wp7. It's also true iOS game develoeprs are making more money than Android platform, but it has nothing to do with native code or managed code. As a matter of fact, they don't make much money on wp7 at all, though it runs native code too. You can't even back yourself up with something relevant.

Growth curve, yeah, ri-i-ight. RHT is only INHERITing shares from EXISTing fellow X-platforms such as Suns whereas MSFT starts from 0% server market penetration to CREATE own shares. One inherits from others while the other creates own success. As for growth curve I don't know how to calculate Windows Server's growth curve b/c if you divide sth by 0% you get an overflow. hoho.

I don't know what you are smoking. Windows server is only one part of M$'s business. It wasn't like windows server is closed source and the other parts are open and you can make the separation. Windows server's growth has nothing to do with closed source. RHT's story, however, shows clearly open source can have a great profit model.
