人不是很多。签证官就问了句到美国干什么，然后又要了关于我的材料看了一会儿，主
要是看I-20什么的，然后就说通过了。看来广州的确比较松。
个人背景：F1学生，独生子女，10月初在东部一所学校完成答辩后，到西部一所学校OP
T做博后。邀请父母过来呆一个月，旅游 + 参加毕业典礼 （给签证官的信上是这么说的
），签证前机票已订。
父母背景：家在湖北小城市，这次跨区到广州签因为广州有亲戚，加上广州预约排队时
间短。父母都已退休，以前从来没来过美国。
个人准备的材料：
给签证官的信（中英文各一份，附有自己签名），phd学校发的邀请父母参加毕业典礼的
邀请信，I-20， EAD卡，护照，最近一次赴美签证，博后老板的offer letter，博后学
校的ID，phd学校的ID，最近三个月的checking account, saving account记录和工资单
，航空公司的机票行程。这些材料大多是扫描发给父母的。
父母准备的材料：
户口本，我的出生证明，父母的结婚证，退休证明，退休工资存折，房产证，父母与我
的合影，父母在国内旅游的合影，签证照片，DS-160表打印页（左下角贴上签证费收据
，这是广州领馆的要求）。
以下是我写给签证官的信，当时实在想不出什么能够强力证明父母回国的理由，最后只
好说父母要回国准备过年这样敷衍了事，好在签证官也没怎么看。

Dear Visa Officer,
My name is xxx, postdoctoral researcher at xxx University. I am writing this
letter in support of visa application of my parents, xxx and xxx.
Before coming to xxx Universty, I was a PhD student in xxx major at yyy Univ
ersity. After finishing my dissertation defense in early October, I've just
moved to xxx University to work as a postdoctoral researcher on optional pra
ctical training (OPT). Because I have to get my new research project started
and this makes me very busy, I probably do not have time to go back to Chin
a to see my parents within a year. But I do miss my parents a lot, therefore
I would like to invite my parents to the US and reunite with me for a short
period of time.
My parents are supposed to stay in the US for a month. They will arrive at U
S on xxx and leave on xxx (please see printed air ticket itinerary for refer
ence). During their stay, I'll briefly show them around xxx City. Between xx
x and xxx, my parents will fly to the east coast together with me to attend
my graduation ceremony at yyy University (please see printed air ticket itin
erary and invitation letters for reference). And I'll also let them tour Wa
shington D.C. and New York during this trip to the east coast. After spendin
g the New Year with me, my parents have to fly back to China and start prepa
ring the gathering with their brothers and sisters in the Chinese New Year.
My parents and I will share the cost of their trip to the US.
I have prepared a list of documents here for your reference, including photo
copies of my passport and visa, my I-20 forms, my Employment Authorization D
ocument (EAD), my bank statements, my earning statements, my ID at xxx Unive
rsity, offer letter from my postdoc research advisor, my student ID at yyy U
niversity, invitation letter for attending the graduation ceremony issued by
yyy University and air ticket itinerary.
Finally, I would like to thank you for your effort on processing the visa ap
plication of my parents.
