i guess windows uses a special system file to store
the small pre-view iamges. that special file is invisible
in file explorer. but when you copy a folder of images from
your hard drive to your usb key, you may notice sometimes
there is a popup a message which asks you whether you want to copy
some kind of thumbnail.db file.
