This I am pretty sure, DP's style is so much like Zhang Ailing, and
I remember there are phrases that are almost exactly like some I read
from Zhang Ailing's novel, but those are not simple imitating, she has a way
of her own.
As to the novel, it hits me at the last, the end of it. What separated
them are uncertainty of life... Niantao just can't accept what he has
been living in, while the girl, like most girls, is going to accept it,
