Duke Kunshan University (DKU) is a partnership of Duke University, the city

Job Description
The Director is responsible for all aspects of leading the planning,
engineering, deployment, operation and maintenance of the Information
Technology (IT) infrastructure and components of Duke Kunshan University
including the data/voice network, data center, classroom audio-visual
resources, TelePresence classrooms, video-conferencing, collaboration and on
-line social network tools, administrative systems, learning management
system, security system, communication tools (email, calendar, blogs, wikis)
, research computing systems, data storage, data security, and end-user
support for campus faculty, researchers, staff and students.
The position requires close consultation and collaboration with the Chief
Information Officer of Duke University as well as DKU partners in Kunshan
and Wuhan University. In addition to the strategic planning, implementation,
and operational support requirements, the position is responsible for the
supervision and development of subordinate staff, management of potential
contract resources, and financial oversight of capital and operating
expenses.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information
Technology or related field.
Mandarin Chinese and English proficiency required, fluency highly desired.
Experience working internationally to include comprehensive understanding of
Chinese culture, laws, and working environment.
A minimum of 7 years’ experience building and maintaining a complex
information technology services environment, preferably at an American
research university or comparable organization.
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful candidate will exceed the minimum qualifications with a
combination of experience and competencies in business partnering, customer
service orientation, organization development, IT visioning and advocacy,
development and performance management of staff, technical expertise, and
relationship management skills. Critical to success will be:
Leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and influencing
senior level management and key stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, launch, and deliver a portfolio of
services to meet business demands on-time and within budget; attract and
develop competent and creative staff, and effectively manage multiple
priorities within an environment characterized by changing functional and
technical requirements.
Broad experience and technical expertise with the software and hardware
components of modern distributed computing environments to produce a high
quality applications, systems, and communications infrastructure.
