THE GROUP OF SOIL MECHANICS AND PROBLEMATIC SOILS
The Department of Geotechnical Engineering, Tongji University is equipped
with the nation’s premier science and engineering facility for soil & rock
mechanics, foundation engineering, underground engineering and geological
engineering. The Group of Soil Mechanics and Problematic Soils consists of a
world-class team of researchers working on cutting-edge theory and
technology with a focus on the micro and macro mechanical properties of
problematic soils such as soft soils, structural sands, loess, liquefiable
soils, lunar regolith, and methane hydrate bearing deposits, as well as
relevant practical applications. We currently has several projects funded by
National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), National Natural
Science Foundation of China, and 7th Framework Programme (FP7).
AVAILABLE POSITION
We are seeking one tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor
at the Group of Soil Mechanics and Problematic Soils to work on the soil
constitutive models, numerical simulation and engineering application.
QULIFICATION
Required:
A PhD degree received from an oversea university, or a Chinese
university included in the China National Development Program of Key
Discipline (985 Program) or equivalent
Bachelor studies in an oversea university, or a Chinese
university included in the China National Development Program of Key
Discipline (985 Program), or 211 Project, or equivalent
Has at least continuous two-year study or working experience in
oversea universities or research institutes
Has at least two SCI indexed papers as the first author, or the
second author if the first author is his/her advisor
Born after Jan 1, 1980 if applying for the position of Assistant
Professor
Desired:
Scientific research skills and a teamwork attitude
Good command of the English language
Proven leadership to supervise a project from conception to
publication
Strong mathematical and scientific computer programming skills
Outstanding communication skills and teaching skills
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The salary varies between 19,000 EUR to 25,500 EUR per year before tax for
Assistant Professor depending on the candidate experience. The salary will
increase on the basis of performance at a yearly rate of 5%~10%. The salary
for Associated Professor is negotiable depending on the candidate’s
qualification.
