First, let me provide one datapoint. My in-laws got visa from Shanghai this
past Monday WITHOUT DS-157, which proves the form is not necessary in SH, at
least!
I think there have been too many questions on this board about whether DS-157
is necessary for the parents over 45 years old. Some friends in the board may
have given out information that is not exactly correct. I think at least the
following two sources of information can be regarded as accurate:
1. Answer from the Embassy people direct
