On SciFi for the past three days.
The special effect is so so because this is just a TV series.
But the performance and storytelling is very impressive.
Overall It's better than the movie in 1984.

You are the first one that says this TV series is better than the original
David Lynch movie. :)
I never watched the first movie, but I read some part of the book. (reading it)
Paul is apparently a more decisive and a natural leader, none of the luke
skywalker personality of the dude in the mini series.
The story telling was just so,so. It did poorly in explaining the whatabout
of the space navigation, the relationships between the houses, etc. Though
I could forgive that because of the restrain

I'm not the first one, absolutely. Check out imdb,dude. 8-)
Well when you are talking about "it did poly in explaining...",
you are actually comparing it w/ the original *book*, rather than
the movie. I watched the movie for three times, and fell to sleep
for two times every time after 1.5 hrs or so because it just went into
some nonsense B-tier movie action and sandworm driving around etc. 8-)

hehe I just watched the movie 2 days ago. I have to say
David Lych was good in setting the mood and the scenery was
very good. But he wasted half of the time on the first
1/3 of the book. I agree after 1.5 hours you will get sleepy.
I guess both TV show and movie are pretty "precise" on
the story (but that is not art!) I didn't get to see
the TV show since I am living in my friends' place with no
Sci-Fi channel (damn it!!!) but my co-worker is taping it and
blabing about the TV show for the pas

I just finished another 5 pages before going to bed last night. :)
There are much confusions on the use of shield, Sardarkuars, Fremen, and the
whole combat thing in TV series. If the director could have spared sometime
tring to explain the background, it would have made much more sense. :)
But again, it si a TV, it has a relatively low budget. :(

Well I'd prefer a precise visualization of classic works.
