Scientist/ Senior of Molecular Biology
Challenges
You will be involved in cross-functional project teams with colleagues from
many different scientific backgrounds both in China and at our head quarters
in Denmark. You will contribute to several early stage projects with
responsibility for designing expression systems and generating recombinant
proteins preferentially from E. coli, but some experience within mammalian
expression is also considered valuable. You will also be responsible for
process development and handing over of the E.coli process to CMC settings
including documentation in relation to the transfer.
You will be reporting directly to the department manager and your main
internal contacts will be scientist colleagues, technicians and project
members and managers both in Beijing and in Denmark. Furthermore, developing
and maintaining a strong external network is also going to be an important
part of your work.
You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment
within the Diabetes Research Unit.
Your tasks will include, but not be limited to:
• Developing effective microbial host/vector systems using
recombinant DNA technology, including: identification of expression limiting
steps, protein secretion (i.e. periplasmic or extracellular expression),
posttranslational issues, physiological manipulation of host strains, in-
vivo protein misfolding (inclusion body expression), fusion-protein
technology, molecular manipulation of proteins, pathway knockouts, pathway
constructions,
• Analyze data from experiments, write summaries, and prepare
presentations
• Manage projects in a diverse team environment
Furthermore, you will be expected to lead the implementation of new
technologies within protein and peptide expression as needed.
Qualifications
• You hold a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics or
related discipline with additional postdoctoral training or similar
experience.
• You must demonstrate strong experience in at least one of the
following areas: metabolic engineering, protein engineering, protein
expression in microorganisms (preferably E.coli), protein expression with
unnatural amino acids, genetic manipulation of bacteria, enzyme evolution,
microbial physiology.
• You have an excellent track record of original research as well
as hands-on experience with state-of-the art molecular biological techniques
.
• Experience from a biotech/pharmaceutical R&D setting taking a
therapeutic protein all the way from early expression in E.coli to handing
over to CMC setting is considered an advantage.
• You are flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, innovative;
result oriented and have a good sense of humour.
• You have authority and thrive in an environment with individual
responsibility and a high degree of personal impact in the projects but at
the same time you are good at collaborating in teams.
• You are good at communicating, able to meet deadlines and keep an
overview.
• You are fluent in English.
