一个人的公司，做设计，有时候把项目包给别人做，请问年底报税，都需要做什么，除
了发1099给分包人？是否复杂，可以DIY吗？还是一定要请会计师？多谢答复

I don't think it's very complicated. You can DIY. But why don't let a CPA
do it? It won't cost too much but save yourself a lot of time.
And usually they know a lot more deduction than you do so can save you
more tax.

如果准备做下去， 我觉得还是给cpa去报好了。 让他/她看下你的books. 一般都可以
给些挺有用的建议。 我自己做bookkeeping, 有时真的做的乱七八糟的。 觉得同会计
师聊聊。 听友收获的。

If you use Intuit's software Turbotax business version and know what you're
doing/follow each step carefully, you can do it yourself.
Otherwise you can hire a CPA or just tax filer to do it. The fee you pay
for the service is tax deductible.

Littleton coin company sometimes has coupons for $12.95 a set, I bought 6
set total (a 4 set coupon and a 2 set coupon)

我觉得自己完全可以上网看看basic accounting tutorial，或去借几本书看看，补充
一下基本的accounting知识呀。没有那么难的。
做为business owner，最起码得看的懂financial reports吧？

I figured that it's better not try to do everything by yourself.
It's not that you can't do it. I am sure many people here are smart
enough to learn accounting and DIY.
The problem is all these kinds of things add up to a huge amount
of your time, and they can totally distract you. After a while
you find yourself knowing everything yet good at nothing, and your
business is going nowhere.

of your time, and they can totally distract you. After a while
you find yourself knowing everything yet good at nothing, and your
business is going nowhere.

But as a business owner, if you cannot read the financial reports and know
what them mean, that's just kind of dangerous to run business like that. At
least you've got to know your bottom line, break even point, etc.
Also at the very beginning, when the business owner cannot afford to hire
professionals to do those things, you've got to know at least something
about basic accounting. I've known business owner who's so tied up in
running day to day business but didn't have a clue if she's making a profit
or not. And sometimes people think that there are lots of business sales
and activities going on but in fact they are not making a PROFIT.
I understand that as a business owner, you don't have to do everything
yourself. But still, I think every owner should at least know how to read
financial reports and know what's going on in their business financially. :)

Well, I definitely agree with you that the business owner should have
a clearly idea about what's going on financially. You have to be able
to know the bottom line (which is very easy) in the financial report.
But I think we were talking about tax. Tax is a different issue. For
a business, it involves a lot of tricks and details.
