The number of U.S. workers who filed initial claims for unemployment
benefits last week rose "unexpectedly", 496,000, a U.S. Labor Department
report showed on Thursday. This among a backdrop of pundits claiming that
the recovery is well underway.
The US labour department tried to spin the news, and of course the so called
experts are running with it, that the rash of bad weather. Reuters noted:
