2014年，马年是个生育高峰年，很多人都选择在这一年怀孕生子，认为属马运势好，而不想在羊年生宝宝，认为属羊的人命不好。
因为民间一直流传着一种说法：在羊年出生的小孩子会命苦，尤其是女孩。我国个别地方，羊年怀上的女孩子都要做掉，所以有的村子里连一个属羊的女孩也找不到。这样一来，羊年自然而然变成了一些人口中的“计划生育年”。
正是因这个说法，很多年轻夫妻抱着“宁可信其有，不可信其无”的心态，纷纷抢生“马仔马女”，导致近期到医院做产检的准妈妈数量陡增，一些准妈妈甚至想用医学干预的方式生产。
专家说法：“羊命论”没有任何科学依据
所谓“羊宝宝”不好这种观念没有任何科学依据，大家身边许多属羊的人都有幸福的家庭和成功的事业。如古代属羊的名人：曹操、司马懿、李世民、努尔哈赤、曾国藩、李鸿章、慈禧等;明星里属羊的，比如：周润发、郑伊健、张信哲、许志安、章子怡、陈小春等等。
而且，羊是六畜之一，羊和很多美好的事情有联系，如“祥”、“美”等。羊只是属相的一个标识，与人的命运没有关系。至于生肖如何扯上宿命论，是旧时代的“伪科学”。
避开了生育高峰，羊宝宝也有春天
受到“羊命论”的影响，羊年避开了生育高峰，其实对孩子将来的入学、就业等都是很有好处的。

一项资料表明，大连市全年全市属马的学龄儿童有8万人，属羊的才5万人，落差不小。选择在羊年要孩子，不仅能避开生育的高峰期，产检、分娩等过程都要比生育高峰期容易许多。

中国的奶粉“抢购”潮，已经震惊了世界。如果出生率下降，对奶粉的总体需求量降低，购买起来便会相对容易。
