This should not be a surprise. Drys has drilling sector long time ago. One of the major reason its price was depressed this summer is that the deep sea drilling sector was in a very uncertain condition since BP's large oil leak. Now with dry's drilling
sector be IPOed, it should recover to the current price.

the value of a company does not change just because you sold a part of it.
The perception does. the private placement is a catalyst to let market re-
estimate Drys's value. simply put 500 million ~ 20% of drilling business,
then 2 billion ~ the rest 80%, which is already higher than drys current
market value. don't forget about its drybulk shipping business.
even including the margin of safety that investors may require, it is very
likely that drys will go up to it next resistant level, which is about $6
very soon. It is not optimistic by any means to expect $6.50 by end of this
year.
