Let's just check what happened with NFLX last few days. There is no rhyme of
reason to panic like this. NFLX took steps to correct the pain caused by
the price increase. Now the customers have the option to keep either the
online streaming or the DVD rental for a smaller price. It's not fair or
financially viable for the company to keep providing both services for $7.99
. Whether you like it or not, that's (low price) not going to happen. btw,
how much do you think you are paying for a starbucks coffee or for a
chipotle burrito? Even a bucket of popcorn costs about that much.
Now, it's a smart idea to focus on the streaming business. Streaming is the
future and with all these big screen TV's at home, customers will prefer the
convenience of the streaming and Netflix is the number one player there.
Bookstores are closing since iPad was launched, Blockbuster is dead because
of Netflix...I can see that DVD will be the next one out in next few years,
just like Kodak films and paper books. Streaming is defintely the future,
Google, Apple, Microsoft都早已开始下手了,Netflix如果再不甩掉利润极低
的DVD业务,总有一天也会变成Blockbuster,成为下一格被淘汰的目标。正所谓壮士断腕,置死地而后生。Netflix的股票纵然不值$200,但也不至于被腰斩一半,客户群还是在的,且其在streaming上早已默默下了很多功夫,很多硬件厂商都已直接包括了netflix的app. 打下了将来大展拳脚的基础,只要在其内容上继续下功夫,增加内容和质量,以及影片更新速度,绝对可以对DVD取而代之,Netflix才真的像它的名字的开头一样进入net时代,Netflix革命性的发扬光大了DVD租赁业务,如果将来也可以革命性的彻底终结DVD租赁业务,那将是多么值得让人玩味的历史事件啊。
