One common mistake people on the sideline make is assuming gold will
always be there when they wanna buy it. Not so. Gold disappears from
the shelf when paper manipulation sends it down ridiculously.

Stupid. Gold has almost ZERO utility, and about $500 true value which is the
cost to produce it.
Anything way off its valuation will eventually crash like a Ponzi game - the
last one to buy lose it all.

忽略了美元的购买力变化。
现在的$500和十年前的$500是不一样的。
说黄金的美元价值一定要加上时间。十年后说不定$500就只能买个面包。
十年前有谁能知道十年后一百万人民币只够在大城市买个厕所呢？
要维持住购买力，纸币肯定不行。黄金还有可能。
