were unsatisfied with your experience…just fill out the on-line survey and
the stores try to make it better”. Baloney. You know what those surveys
were REALLY for? They are used to gauge labor spending. A store that rated
too high on categories like: “rapid customer response times” or “were
eagerly serviced by multiple associates”, was assumed to be spending too
much on labor and would have its budgets decreased. This process repeated,
and budgets decreased until a store’s scores fell more comfortably into the
less positive range. Corporate assumed that the natural state of being for
customers at a Best Buy is just slightly “under-whelmed” at the level of
service. I always thought that was telling.
