This is open invitation to anybody who has the interest to discuss what's
the potential valuation of Sina Weibo.
Since monetization of Sina Weibo has not started yet, all we know at this
point is the business cost Sina 30 Mil USD with Zero revenue at this point.
should we need to figure out the potential valuation of Sina Weibo, I
believe Tencent's QQ is a better comparison then Facebook.
At this point, Tencent's market cap is 282 B HKD. 80% of Tencent revenue
come from IVAS or QQ. the valuation of QQ is about 28 billion USD. At this
point, It should be safe to say QQ is in dominant position compare with
Weibo and I don't think Weibo can challenge QQ in 5 years although Weibo is
growing rapidly.
If you read the balance of SINA and CRIC carefully, you know both public
company big wash their balance sheet (all intangible assets and goodwill are
gone) and both company's balance sheet are very very very clean. As of
today. Sina's market Cap is 4.38B, Sina hold 740 million cash and equivalent
. for the 380 million long term investment, which i believe is priced at the
far low end of the range. therefore, the balance sheet itself worth 1.1
billion USD.
For Sina.com (excluding Weibo), the forward earning should be around 140
million USD/ year, should you use 10 times PE, then Sina.com should be worth
at least 1.4B USD minimum.
What's left?
of course, it's the market valuation of Weibo.com. tell me what you think of
