this is a famous brand and largest in a famous country which is the biggest
travel market in the world, and the famous brand is selling at PE 19 and it
makes a tons of money. are you kidding me?

one possible reason for ctrp to drop to 24 is momentum trading, when one
stock is down, it can be punished to the extreme because of heavy shorting,
the reason might be just to make money not fundamental. or margin call due
to heavy selling. nobody knows.

en, I agree what you said that "the bottom line is nobody really knows".
To me, "Cheap" is defined as the oversold level at which the market has the
effect causing that oversold regardless of whether the current price is over
or below the actual market price. Therefore, one needs to implement some
parameters to measure that oversoldness. Once verified, then it is tradable
to LONG the stock for potential profitable outcome. The reverse is also true
for SHORT.
This is more or less the pattern of swinging.
