You can short it when your broker can borrow shares for you. IPO
underwriters
are not allowed to lend out shares in 30 days though. That is why it is not
easy to get shares to short at the beginning.
Think about it. What if you shorted google IPO in 2004.

没有IPO30天的限制. 我去年5月底short了FB, IPO一周左右。

当天38我尝试short，未成功。后来就没有试了。
