Now that the WF-3620 and WF-3640 have been out for the better part of a year
, we’ve heard many, many reports of people receiving printers that shipped
with crippling hardware problems. The good news is that you’ll know right
away—during setup, it’ll make a grinding noise and flash an error code.
This is covered under Epson’s warranty and any respectable retailer’s
return policy. We’re absolutely concerned about the lemon rate and are
trying to get an explanation out of Epson. But if the WF-3620 works after
you take it out of the box, it should continue to work fine. We’re not
comfortable recommending any of the other printers at this price point,
either—they each have one-too-many big flaws. That said, if you’re willing
to spend more on your all-in-one to avoid the potential hassle, we have a
couple of step-up recommendations.
