You can be totally wrong! If Rep had no leverage, the Dem would have passed
the bill smoothly. Boehner did and is still doing a fantastic job to secure
the party's dignity and political stand. On the contrary, I think Obama
seems like out of clue handling this deadlock. While saying he will not talk
to the Rep before the government reopens and debt ceiling gets lifted, he
had multiple conversations with Boehner and senate Republicans. Isn't that
negotiation?
There lies a likelihood that the debt ceiling may stay where it is before 10
/17. The house Republicans have already prepared for the potential
aftermath of the breach. If you read the news these days, you may see some
pessimistic languages with regard to ways to prevent an overall delinquency
paying debts. In another word, everything is possible. Nothing is fixed in
politics.

你是共和党的么？这是啥逻辑？“If Rep had no leverage, the Dem would have

the bill smoothly.” 难道不应该是共和党不满足民主党的要求又没有leverage，所
以民主党才不pass the bill么?现在民主党的要求很明确-提高debt ceiling by 10/17
(至少是short term）和重开政府。shutdown这件事上共和党已经输了（obamacare如期
开张），死赖着而已。奥巴马为啥不谈判，甚至共和党提出offer后都要reject，因为
你没有leverage。现在共和党就是要找台阶下，最新的说法是参院共和党会想办法给个
台阶，So Boehner不会太难堪。
共和党唯一的leverage就是default，那就是双输，而且共和党会比民主党输得更多，
而且会被载入史册。如果你经历过从2011年以来的历次drama你就知道了，nobody
dares to default debt，老老实实地提高上限，至于是提高6个星期还是一年半载，那
是可以讨论的。

啊人家说的是共和党也有筹码，就是让政府关门不提高债限的筹码。如果没有的话，
也就没有新闻了
没错default的结果是双输，但不能说民主党就占优了
共和党虽然弱势但始终也是有基本盘的，民主党还没有一统天下呢

不提高debt ceiling是大杀器不是筹码。
