Blackberry's main users are in gov and large corp. Americans are political
animals. This means two things (1) congress may veto the merger just like
when Levono tried to buy palm/webos 3/4 years ago (2) congress will make a
big fuss out of it even if the merger is successful, see Huawei.
I can not find any advantage of blackberry phones for a retail user, they
simply do not have the whole eco-system to compete with the other three.
Levono has enough resource to continue develop BB10? Not likely.
So I suppose this is a short term play. Good luck!

What about IBM selling PC division to Lenovo. US government used to use lot
of IBM PC too. If the BBRY is dying, what difference does it make to sell to
a Chinese company or let it die?

The difference is IBM PC/Laptop is a good product and actually has good
customers; IBM can no longer run it efficiently but it is not a bad business
at that time. BB is worse than iPhone/Android/WinPhone and there is no
point for anyone to buy unless they need the sense of security because BB
operates a separate network. So I am not surprised BB has under-the-table
deals with US gov about "security" which nobody else knows.

I wanted to say the security issue is not as important as the surviving of
the company unless the US/Canada government is going to save bbry.

Well noted. But why would the gov guarantee the survival of the company?
Bail-out can happen but that is a hefty political goal that is very hard to
achieve. It's better to let the market do the work - BB workers do not have
to upgrade BB10 and instead they can work on iPhone/Android apps using their
expertise to create more value.
