(JNPR) Tops Q4 EPS by 6c; Guides Q1 In-Line
Juniper Networks, Inc. (NYSE: JNPR) reported Q4 EPS of $0.43, $0.06 better
than the analyst estimate of $0.37. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.27
billion versus the consensus estimate of $1.22 billion.
Juniper Networks, Inc. sees Q1 2014 EPS of $0.27-$0.30, versus the
consensus of $0.29. Juniper Networks, Inc. sees Q1 2014 revenue of $1.12-1.
16 billion, versus the consensus of $1.14 billion.
"Juniper delivered a record revenue quarter demonstrating strong growth on
a sequential and year on year basis, as well as a strong book-to-bill. Our
results reflect our significant opportunity as a world-class provider of
innovative High IQ networks and a Cloud-Builder," said Shaygan Kheradpir,
chief executive officer of Juniper Networks. "I'm honored and excited to
lead Juniper and I look forward to working with our team to help lead the
company through the changes required to reach its full potential. My initial
priorities are to develop an Integrated Operating Plan that focuses on
several value creating initiatives including a more focused strategy on
innovation that matters, an improved cost structure, and a capital
allocation strategy that results in improved returns. We believe these
initiatives will drive value for shareholders, customers, and other
stakeholders. We look forward to a constructive dialogue with our
shareholders as we execute on these priorities and we will provide the
specific details of our plan in the next few weeks."
"In the fourth quarter of 2013, we delivered our sixth consecutive quarter
of year-over-year revenue growth, and expanded operating margins to the
highest level in 11 quarters. For the full year, our revenue growth was 7
percent and we exited the year with good momentum," said Robyn Denholm,
chief financial and operations officer of Juniper Networks. "We also drove
significant year-over-year operating margin and earnings per share expansion
, finishing the year with operating margins at 19.2 percent, up 23 percent
year-over-year. I am pleased with the team's efforts and commitment to
executing our strategy to drive top-line growth and maintain a disciplined
approach to controlling costs."
Juniper Networks Profit Rises 59% on Sales Growth

Juniper Networks Inc. (JNPR) said its fourth-quarter profit rose 59% on
revenue growth driven in large part by an increase in product sales at the
network-gear company.
For the current quarter, Juniper said it expects adjusted earnings of 27
cents to 30 cents a share on revenue of $1.12 billion to $1.16 billion.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters recently projected earnings of 29 cents
a share on revenue of $1.14 billion.
Juniper said its outlook, reflects that underlying demand in the industry
will "remain healthy" this year. Likewise, rival F5 Networks Inc. (FFIV) on
Wednesday offered upbeat guidance for the current quarter after posting
fourth-quarter results that surpassed expectations.
Networking-equipment companies have sought new ways to generate sales and
other strategies as they've come under pressure from cloud-computer
companies. Juniper Chief Executive Shaygan Kheradpir, who took over the post
at the start of the year, on Thursday said his focus would to develop a
cost and innovation strategy for the company.
"My initial priorities are to develop an Integrated Operating Plan that
focuses on several value creating initiatives including a more focused
strategy on innovation that matters, an improved cost structure, and a
capital allocation strategy that results in improved returns," Mr. Kheradpir
said.
Overall, Juniper posted earnings of $151.8 million, or 30 cents a share, up
from $95.7 million, or 19 cents a share, in the prior-year period. Adjusted
per-share earnings grew to 43 cents from 28 cents, thanks in part to a four
-cent benefit from a lower tax rate.
Revenue rose 12% to $1.27 billion.
The company had projected adjusted earnings of 35 cents to 37 cents a share
, and revenue of $1.2 billion to $1.23 billion.
Product revenue grew 14.8%, while services revenue ticked up 2.2%.
Gross margin narrowed to 63.1% from 64.3% while input costs rose 15%.
