SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Intel Corp. INTC, +0.12% on Tuesday reported
a third-quarter profit of $3.3 billion, or 66 cents a share, compared with $
3 billion, or 58 cents a share a year ago. The world's largest semiconductor
company said revenue for the quarter rose to $14.6 billion from last-year's
sales of $13.5 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast Intel to
earn 65 cents a share on $14.45 billion in revenue. Intel said that for its
fourth quarter, it expects revenue in a range of $14.2 billion to $15.2
billion. Intel shares rose 3% in after-hours trading following the release
of its results.
