Being able to maintain the high dividend level at 5-6% now does not mean BP
can do it forever. The strong cash flow realized by the previous years'
healthy oil market will soon dry up if the price of crude oil fails to
reverse the trend and continue to fluctuate around or below $60 in the
coming two years.
Well, my belief is it is almost impossible for the oil price to register
above 80 in the coming two years. Because this turn of decline is not only
due to the weak global economy and geopolitical turmoil, the technology
evolution in petroleum industry weighs heavily too. If there is no a wide
demise of small and middle oil-related companies, there would be no end.
In the long run, investment in major indexes is better than BP.
