Overnight, European Central Bank(ECB) left all of its interest rates
unchanged as expected. ECB also raised its 2016 GDP estimate to +1.6% (from
+1.4%). With ECB's quantitative-easing program set to end in less than nine
months ( i.e. to be ended on March 2017), the key issue is whether the QE
program has done enough to eventually bring the inflation level up to the
bank's desired target of 2%.
Also, overnight reports suggested that OPEC did not reach a new supply
agreement. Oil price fell more than 2% on the news. Official results will be
released during the day.
US reported April ADP Non-Farm Employment Change as +173K as expected (
expected 174K).
Major European indices trade flat. Japan's Nikkei lost 2.3%.
U.S. stock market is expected to continue to hover between 2090 and 2100
today.
Tomorrow's US official April non-farm employment change could be a big
market mover.
