yeah, I use IB. IB seems cheap for small trades, but clearing out 0.5M does
cost.

It is more than commission fee. When you sell and re-load later on, you have
to pay to price spread. That is hidden cost which is much bigger than
commission.

many guys here use discount brokers with cheap commission. But if commission
is cheap, spread must be bigger. They think they saved but actually they
paid more. I believe it is best to use those big banks' broker service.
Brokers' reputation is most important.

when I clear my positions, I basically just place market orders.....

I don't know. You have to do some research. I never use market price.
