Is there anybody can help us to confirm whether we can get the $8000 first-
home buyer tax credit and the recovery rebate? My wife was not eligible to
apply SSN. I forgot to apply EAD for her last year (2008). We did not get
any stimulus payment because we filed jointly. I heard that this year (2009
) we still can ask for that. However, I just e-filed her EAD application to
TSC. It does require finger print. So, I doubt that I can get any info
before April 15.
Right now, I am wondering wh

For tax return purpose, you can apply for an extension of time until Aug 15
to file your tax return if you cannot get ssn for your wife before April 15.
I bet you can get the EAD and then SSN for your wife before Aug 15 (that's
5 months from now), then file jointly to get the recovery rebate. If you owe
any taxes, you still need to pay IRS before April 15 even you filed for an
extension.
For the $8000 tax credit, I am not sure. But my guess is as long as you guys
can file jointly as resident, yo
