You can claim the loss on your tax return as worthless stock without selling
the stock.
For example
CC is bankruptcy and its stock is only worth a few penny. Maybe all stocks
is only worth $5 and if you want to sell it the transaction will be $10
You can deduct the loss without selling the stock.
Total proceed ( input 0)
Total cost (your purchase price + transaction fee)
Your tax software should use worthless stock category.
