Last year when I started my greencard application, the IO asked my dept
chair about his opinion. He agreed me to go with the petition. I then signed
the contract with the lawyer. It took a while for me to get the reference
letters ready. Recently the lawyer has prepared the petition letter and
requires the dept chair to sign. It seems that he forgot. Now the chair
wanted the IO to verify legally that the petition as outstanding researcher
has nothing to do with tenure evaluation. I told him this

之前写的何炅的时候，说何炅是湖南台的主持一哥，在敲下这个定义的时候，有点点犹
豫，因为想起了汪涵。
湖南台估计是汪涵和何炅一起做一哥的，而两人也是国内中文节目最优秀的主持人，两
人都是偏向娱乐性质的，而且都是比较搞笑，看上去两人很类似，但是其实很大区别的。
汪涵做的节目都有自己参与的，而且他更偏向搞笑一点，最重要的是汪涵的节目是经常
每天都有。
比如他做越策越开心，我看过很多次，真的很有趣，要知道那是周一到中午都有的，现
在在做的火星情报局，还有天天向上，把娱乐做到电视一样，也是只有汪涵才有这个水
平和精力。
这点上很佩服汪涵，而且汪涵竟然还留了胡子，感觉一点都不怕自己显老。
不过在最大型的主持里，湖南台几乎都是汪涵和何炅一起主持，比如大的文艺晚会，还
有我是歌手等最后的决赛等。
每次看到汪涵都有很强烈的亲切感，这种亲切感比起看何炅还要强烈。
也不知道为什么，估计他的节目很平易近人吧。
当然最可惜的是他老婆很漂亮，嫁给他之后竟然不出来主持了，很有点遗憾呀。

Yes, IO is the International office, here in my uni. it is International

I doubt there are rules on this matter with tenure in my uni.. I know
several people who applied for their greencard through Eb1B in my uni. They
even did not deal with the international office, only worked with their
chairs.

there were 4 cases in my department, although long time ago. I knew one of
them used EB1B, but he has left. I mentioned this case to the chair. But it
seems that he could not understand, he still thought that person used EB2.
He really made me feel cold of the department. Maybe I should leave once I
have my greencard.

immmigration petition as proof of outstanding performance for your
appraisement?
Or, tell him the cases you know? that might make him feel comfortable a
little.

Finally got some response from the authority. The chair said he would add a
few sentences like "our tenure criteria is higher and meeting the standards
of EB1b does not mean I meet the tenure standards". I felt not good and
asked him to consider put that in the tenure policy as that might affect the
IO officers decision. Then he said if he signs the letter, that means it is
his letter, he can write whatever he wants. But he agreed to carefully word

Thanks. Did not expect to have such a weird chair. The chairs of other depts
are much supportive. Even my American coworkers said he was difficult to
read.
