this is totally based on your personal perference. i like nedit,
but you could try vim, emacs...

I like slickedit. It's very convenient to write programe. Who has the full
version of it? I just have demo version which cannot save file and project!

I like vi a lot.
Right now, I am trying to use EMACS. it is very powerful.

You can get the full version of it only after you pay your $250.
Why not nedit? It's so good!

crisp is not bad, like UltraEdit on PC.

Yeap, vi is a great edit tool. Just takes a while to learn and get use to it.
Pico is pretty convenient, don't have to know all the key board short cuts
for commands.

Emacs is the best; vi is ok if you have a lot of practice on it. Pico is easy, but bad.
Actually, current emacs is very like c++ editor in Windows.

I think you are talking about IDE, not editor itself.
For Unix IDE, you have some choices, but availability limits to your
specific platform. (BTW, VC is limited to Windows, isnot it?)

VI is the most convinient one; but if you want to write long program,
xemacs is best.
