先等等，我好象记得以前装CXTERM时不用run configure的，应该有个install.sh之类的

but the point is i have not compiled it yet, so i guess it is not right to run
install.sh first.
anyway, i have no idea of this, just guess.
tried to look at the script but found it was too long to get an idea quickly.
and this message makes me even more desperate because of something
out of my own control.

我原来用的是cxter5.0-patch3, 解开后应有一个config.sh的东东，运行后会有如下的
提示：
--- BASIC MENU ---
0. Read COPYRIGHT Notice
1. Compile, Install, and Configure "CXTERM 5.0" in One Step
--- OPTION MENU ---
2. Compile cxterm (not to install)
3. Install cxterm (after successful compilation in 2)
4. Install additional Chinese font(s) for your X window
5. Configure your account for using cxterm (after installation in 3)
x. Exit
...
然后我从2选起，直到结束。其中手工将所有makefile中的cc改成了gcc。

your info is old. There is an unofficial cxterm project:
cxterm.sourceforge.net
The primary maintainer changed that whole thing to autoconfig/automake.
However, there are known problems on Solaris.
