SOlaris does not seem compatible to my DELL laptop(Latitude CPt), even I want to
install it purely.

It was said it is the problem of keyboard.
And my keyboard turns hot at that time. I shutdown the computer immediately.
Maybe you can try freeBSD. What I found difficulty in install FreeBSD is in
Desktop X setting. Maybe some one can solve it, google to find it.
Actually, I tried many in my laptop, such as Turbo Linux, FreeBSD, Debian,
Slackware. I find I am still more comfortable with my first Redhat.keke...

If your laptop is in the list,
maybe you can install Solaris on your laptop.
I guess you can use boot Magic to load the dual system.

After a long and painful and stressful weekend, at last I setup win xp and
solaris8 dual boot at my laptop.
network is working (i am sending for solarix right now), could read chinese
(don't know how to write yet), everything goes fine
so if anyone else interested in install both systmem, let me know so I could
give you some help ahead.

有比方说休眠支持吗？
solaris 8自己就带中文输入支持，还不错，我记得。

哈哈，装了中文，可以输入中文拉
不过sun把节面也改成中文的，觉得有点怪，最好能维持原来的界面，但有中文输入功能
。

at least I got a pirate copy of Chinese Solaris 8 x86. Never got a chance to
install it though. I prefer linux on x86. I have no choice in my office,
all machines are sun x terminals :)

before 2002 Feb, sun allows users to download solaris x86 from their
website. so that is not really a pirate copy, I guess.
