It seems that I can not input Chinese in pine using cxterm. Is there email
client that I can use under cxterm and input Chinese? Thanks.

maybe gnus in emacs? I once test to input chinese using emacs and the
text can be pasted to cxterm window.

i dont know, i didn't install it. ;-)
and OP said he can not use cxterm to input chinese in pine.

I was unable to input Chinese in pine. But after playing a while with it, I
found that if I change the character encoding setting, it works well :)

I can input Chinese in pine.
Maybe you can try this: modify the character set in .pinerc file with
gb2312.

I used to use netscape.

How to install a input method to be used under netscape then? My Solaris is
English and I don't have the root previlege. thanks.

cxterm has a vi or pico(not sure) of it's version.

it didn't seem to work. what was pasted was "????" :(

many years ago, I used the editor in bbs source, name "ve", to
compile the chinese email. Then copy&paste to netscape. It works.

I think you are using netscape 6.2.2.
For an older version (maybe 4.7), you can do the copy and paste.
