the tech support does not know how to do it.
OS: solaris and the monitor is dell.
how can i change the refresh rate?
inside the OS or just do something with the monitor itself?

kdmconfig as root

your current resolution is in
/usr/openwin/bin/xdpyinfo | grep dimension

hmmm? then you have to use
m64config
first check current resolution using m64config -prconf
the best way is check man page of m64config.
